Allow Florida Springs Scuba pros to show you one of our favorite “holes in the ground,” as we call them. This beautiful spring has been a favorite for dive training and recreational diving for decades. The dive begins with an open water area with platforms that provide the perfect spot for beginners and experienced divers alike to breathe, relax, and get neutral while enjoying the beautiful, clear water and the antics of Virgil, the famous resident soft-shelled turtle. Once comfortable, your experienced dive pro will guide you into the upper cavern. This part of the dive has a maximum depth of approximately 75 feet. Once in the cavern, look up to find an air bell at a depth of 34 feet just inside the entrance to upper cavern. Be sure to search the walls and ceilings of this ancient cavern, which are embedded with fossils. A dive light shined into the cracks in the bedding plains will reveal sleepy catch fish napping in a bed of sea biscuit fossils. After your dive, you’ll be able to grab a hot shower right on site if you don’t plan on exploring another spring in the area with us.
